Cavity Backed Slot Antenna Fed by a Stripline with SIW Structure and Vertical Coaxial Transition for Microwave Solid-State Heating Applications

This paper presents a new approach to feed multimode cavities used as microwave applicators for industrial and domestic ovens using solid-state sources operating in the 2.45 GHz ISM (Industrial, Scientific Medical) band (commonly applications). The feeding structure consists of slot on top side applicator cavity. is fed by shielded asymmetric stripline with Substrate Integrated Waveguide (to preserve Transversal Electro-Magnetic (TEM) operation within shield) N-connectorized. A first design antenna was obtained state-of-the-art theory assuming free-space radiation. Then, it refined commercial simulation tool based Finite Element Method frequency domain achieve VSWR values lower than 1.5 source bandwidth (from 2.42 2.48 GHz) when radiates into parameters all components making up this are discussed throughout paper. prototype built measured laboratory. experimental results presented at end along simulated ones, showing very good agreement.
